Marie celebrates our first warm weather day this year.

After a whole lot of cold, the weather yesterday was amazing. Right after work, my wife Marie and I decided to head down to Piedmont park and take pictures. We had such a good time.

Temples and shrines were all over in japan. Some shinto shrines were unassuming and tucked into small corners. Others, like this Sensoji temple in Asakusa Tokyo were gigantic and teeming with life around them.

Our honeymoon visit to Tokyo put is there right at the beginning of the city’s Cherry Blossom Festival. The cherry blossom trees are everywhere in the city. To celebrate, whole families will mark of areas to camp out under the trees.

The cherry trees really are lovely in bloom. The flowers can be quite fleeting as a week later the petals will stream with the wind like snow.

To me, this sculture looks like a piece of alien technology landed on our world. Soon the gears will begin to turn and its purpose revealed.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been down with a bad case of food poisoning.

They started building this house last summer. It’s close to my own home so I listed to the pop of nail guns and the hum of all the other machines daily during it’s construction. As it started to take shape, it was clear that the house wasn’t going to look like the others in the neighborhood at all.

I’m no stickler for house uniformity but the choice to building a California modern in a location surrounded by 1950’s traditional homes seemed significant, even interesting. I was looking forward to meeting the new neighbors who obviously brought such a unique aesthetic to the area. So when construction finally wrapped up this week, I was terribly disappointed to see a large “For Sale” sign implailed in the yard.

I’m not going to get my chance to see the person with the architectural vision. The closest I’ll get it to meet the person who found the vision so interesting and the contrast to the rest of the neighborhood so start that they decided to pay for it. I wonder how long that will take.
